Kangaroo Island  

Kangaroo Island is located 16 kms from the Australian mainland and approximately 110kms southwest from Adelaide.  It is Australia’s third largest island (4500 square kilometres); seven times the size of Singapore.  The island was named in 1802 by British navigator Matthew Flinders.  Kangaroo Island abounds with native fauna and flora as more than one-third of the island is National or Conservation Park.

Flinders Chase National Park  
 

Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch are just two of the many land formations to explore within the 33,000 hectares of the Park.  Visit the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre or enjoy one of the many walks and hikes available.

Seal Bay Conservation Park   

Visit Australia’s third largest and most accessible colony of Australian Sea Lions.  There are a number of tours available for visitors, either guided by park rangers or self-guided tours along the boardwalks.

Penguin Parade

Tours operate on a nightly basis from the Kangaroo Island Marine Centre in Kingscote.   Watch the penguins procession from the water to their cosy seaside burrows.  The centre also has a saltwater aquarium containing a large variety of island marine life such as seahorses and various reef fish.

Kangaroo Island Caving

Discovered in 1881, Kelly Hill Caves is made up of a vast array of caverns and sinkholes.  Tours run daily and for the more adventurous, deep cave explorations can be arranged.

Culinary Delights

There is a huge selection of gourmet produce available around the Island to satisfy an appetite, such as sheep milk cheeses, freshwater marron, and other delicious local produce. Cellar door tastings are also available at any of the islands' boutique wineries.

Ligurian Honey

Kangaroo Island houses the only known pure strain of Ligurian bee in the world.  The bees descended from the Italian province of Liguria and were imported in the 1880's and are protected from other breeds of bee due to the Island's isolation.

Lighthouse

Dating back to 1852, Cape Willoughby is South Australia’s oldest lighthouse.  Lighthouse tours operate daily.  Visitors can explore the museum, the old landing site and the lightkeeper’s cemetery.

Little Sahara

Wander through the awe inspiring sand dunes that appear in the centre of the Island and are surrounded by bushland.  Climb to the top of the huge slopes and experience the thrill of sandboarding back down to the bottom.

Vivonne Bay

Voted as one of best beaches in Australia, Vivonne Bay is home to many beautiful sandy beaches perfect for swimming, surfing or fishing.
