Ian is continually excited by the ever present challenges of growing a thriving, sustainable business... one that currently comprises over 200 people.
Solutions and people focused Ian is particularly enthusiastic about creating opportunities for everyone in the business to develop their unique talents and skills. Ian is solution focused and embraces opportunities to meet the needs of all stakeholders while also creating new ways to engage all parties toward common objectives.
Ian already had a 21 year career in the South Australian education department behind him when he moved into private enterprise with Michael Manning. Ian's past activities have included entrepreneur, sportsperson, pilot, inventor and environmentalist.
He currently enjoys reading widely, films, cycling and travelling. Ian is responsible for conceiving and developing the strategic visions for the company.
Michael’s expertise includes sourcing property projects throughout Australia, structuring joint ventures and equity syndicates as well as cultivating relationships across the different facets of the business.
Michael managed his own successful Insurance Agency for 25 years and is also a qualified CPA, with a keen eye for investment return and market cycles.
Michael is a founding director of APP and while retired from direct participation in the business, he remains an active board member.
Tony is passionate about providing his resort management team opportunities to operate autonomously and generate new and exciting business ideas. He has strong talents in the assessment of operational performance and risk.
Tony has been responsible for originating and developing many successful enterprises including in partnership with indigenous people in central and northern Australia.
With an equity ownership in the business, he thrives on operating and improving our diverse properties in our many unique locations. Tony has more than 25 years background in hospitality and tourism throughout outback Australia.
Ken has a passion for design and always aims to create truly unique environments whether for living or working.
Ken constantly consults both within the APP/Aurora business, our variety of joint ventures and with external parties, grappling with complex and detailed design and construction issues.
A qualified town planner and licensed builder with expertise in all aspects of civil construction and built-form design, Ken holds an equity partnership in the business.
Tim thrives on the diversity of the APP portfolio of enterprises and guiding the business through the variety of markets and locations in which we operate.
Overseeing group finance, accounts, legal affairs, insurance and special projects within the group’s development and tourism businesses, Tim spent 12 years working in the project finance industry prior to joining APP. He holds an equity interest in the Group.
The marketing of all of these incredible destinations for Aurora is the responsibility of Gideon Baker, Aurora’s Director of Sales & Marketing.
Gideon Baker is an industry veteran who is passionate about the unique locations in which Aurora operates. Gideon has been part of Aurora for many years. He relishes the role of being a key industry advocate for travel in the NT and SA and has an incredible network of travel partnerships around the world.
