Testimonials

Alice Springs:

Hello Manager and Staff,

I have been meaning to write this for some time now so here goes. I have stayed at the Aurora Alice Springs as a guest paid for by my employer and also privately as I have chosen to stay there. I very much enjoyed the executive offer as the room was very comfortable and stylish, great to have the internet, bottle of wine and the best a $50 voucher for the restaurant.

I am quite a severe asthmatic and I have requested rooms during my stays that have the air conditioner over the sleeping area. This has always been never a problem for the staff and they have always made me feel comfortable and have been very courteous about this situation and upgraded me without an issue.

The food, well it is just amazing! The king prawns, Fish cakes, rosella sauce and that Pavlova. Breakfast is also very good especially the scrambled eggs, and there is such a large variety of food to choose from and at $19 it is great value.

Thanks for all, Amanda Brown

For Attention The General Manager Aurora Resorts

I am directing this email to the Sales Office of Aurora Resorts because I was not able to identify from your web site the whereabouts or name of your General Manager. Please grant me the courtesy of redirecting this email to the General Manager. He or she needs to read the following.

I am taking the time to write this email because I believe that the service we received at Heavitree Gap recently earned the staff the right to be acknowledged.

I have been running conferences and events (2 to 3 per annum) since the early 1980s and I can in all absolute honestly say that the “Can Do” attitude of Sharon Roberts and Mercia Conroy-Sewell was one of the best I have encountered ever. We were made to feel incredibly welcome from our first site inspection right through to when we left and no task asked for was too large or too small to handle. The rooms were basic and clean and comfortable and the conference facilities very good, but it was your staff that made the huge difference. In the lead up to our conference Sharon did all in her power to understand what our requirements were and to go beyond meeting those requirements. She fully and adequately briefed Mercia so that when we arrived we did not have to re-explain our conference to her. Mercia’s enthusiasm permeated through to the reception staff of Laura and Stella and they both performed beyond expectations.

During our site inspection, Sharon was proactive in making sure our conference had every opportunity to succeed, including recommending Zumba lessons for morning aerobics and Rex the Reptile Man for one of our activities. Both suggestions were hugely successful. We found that Mercia, assisted by Lisa, not only administered the day to day running of the Resort in relation to our conference, but she also allowed herself to become immersed with the excitement and fun of our conference, actively seeking and initiating ways of making it better.

At your Resort there is a chef by the name of Flash. Build a fence around this man because other facilities would snap him up if they had any appreciation of how good he is. The $10.00 Sunday roast blew us away and the $10.00 meat balls on Monday night were simply sensational. Most popular dish at dinner was the steak and chips which was so good, one of our guests made us photograph the meal so he could show others when he got home. The Tavern does not try to be a cordon bleu restaurant, but rather a fun place to meet and enjoy a generous serving of good honest food with superb flavour. Flash was not only a good chef, but also he took the time to introduce himself to our group and when he could he joined in our fun.

Your resort at Heavitree Gap is advertised as 3½ Star and price wise plus facilities that is probably about right. Make no mistake however, the staff with their absolute focus on service and involvement make this a 5 Star service facility and each and every one of them should be congratulated.

Arthur Cox Review - July 2011

Sharon Roberts & Staff

Just a quick note to say THANK YOU !!!, to you and your hospitality during our stay at Heavitree Gap.

When we arrived wet and soaked on our bike trip unannounced to the resort , we were absolutely blown away by your friendliness and the accommodation facilities provided to us at short notice..

All the guy's in our crew still talk about the "Kings Palace" we stayed at in Alice...

When given the opportunity we will definitely be back for a visit !

Again,  thanks to all for making a wet miserable part of trip one of the most enjoyable times of our entire adventure ride..

Regards

Coxy

Kangaroo Island:

G'day Andrew

I stayed at your hotel recently and want to thank you and your staff for the generous service and  kind consideration I was given.   It is a very attractive building, the older part well modified and the new section, where I stayed,  excellently appointed.  When you book accommodation unseen you never know what to expect.   In visiting such a remote island I had very limited expectations.  They were vastly exceeded.

The restaurant is outstanding.  You have created a world class dining room at the end of the world.   It must be very difficult to service a sophisticated menu in such a remote place.  Very impressive.  In my three days with you I felt as though I had become friends with your waiting staff.  I rather miss them.  They are excellently trained and supervised and gave real, prompt, friendly service.   Once again, in such a remote location it must be difficult to appoint and train experienced staff who wait swiftly but with a smile.  I found the meals very well prepared and had some pleasant surprises.    I have already searched and purchased a bottle of Kis Honey Liqueur.    Unbelievable.

When I asked to find help for transport to the local Museum I was pleased to meet up with a friendly helpful guy who even offered to return and pick me up.   I was very surprised when reading the card to discover it was you!   Not many hotels in this world would have the General Manager give you a lift.  (Incidentally the Museum has emailed me about my Great-great-great-Grandma and there are apparently six families who claim to be the first to bear a daughter on Kangaroo Island!)

As a film maker I have travelled widely throughout the world and stayed in many hotels .  I have never before written such a letter.

Needless to say:  I enjoyed your hospitality, exceedingly.

Kindest regards,

Gil BREALEY A.O.

IILACE Visit to Kangaroo Island - October 2011

Dear Trish,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for the wonderful time that we had at the hotel recently.

The hospitality was first rate and the dinner on the Saturday evening was superb. I can't remember when I have had such fresh and delicious seafood.

My colleagues have taken home some fabulous memories of KI.

Again ----thank you for everything.

Kind regards

Magnificent Wedding at Aurora Ozone Hotel

Now that I have had time to reflect on the weekend I want to express my gratitude yet again. All those little things that I couldn't manage myself because I am just one person (and the bride) you so willingly took care of and it made that special day even more so. All your staff were professional and courteous at all times and recognised and greeted us every time we saw them. Alex particularly did such a great job managing the reception and was polite at all times, even when I was getting impatient with the music, wanting it louder or softer, off or back on and she seemed to pop up every time that I needed her.

The penthouse that we stayed in was magnificent, exactly the sort of place I would have envisioned getting ready for the wedding in, which I wouldn't have had if we had gotten married on the mainland. So we really appreciated the upgrade.

We also both really appreciated everyone that we dealt with on the island and the way we were treated. My guests commented that it felt like a community event and that they were made to feel very welcome. I will admit to being a little concerned about the fact that every major part of the wedding was being managed by someone from K.I., who I had not met, but I hoped for the best and despite my initial reservations about the florist when we first got to the island they all did such a great job, making me feel a little bad that I doubted them at all.

So thank you again, so very much.

Ron Klinger Bridge - May 2011

Just a brief note to thank you and all the staff at the Aurora Ozone Hotel at Kingscote for looking after our group so well. Everyone commented how friendly and helpful the staff were. Special thanks to Rohan for looking after the group in the dining room, with the excellent service provided by Nicky, Corinna, Alexandra, Rosie and others, as well as Kay and Luke at the desk, Tim and others at the bar. Trish Young with whom we liaised was also marvellous. The staff looked after the bridge room perfectly - always tidied well before session time and no shortage of coffee, tea or iced water.

Congratulations to whoever trains the staff. They are a credit to you.

Cheers,

Ron Klinger

Tip Top SA/NT Sales Conference Dec 2010

On Behalf of my entire Sales team, I would like to thank you and your outstanding staff for your hospitality shown to us during our recent conference held at your venue.

Each year we ensure we capture quality feedback on all aspectsa of our conferences to ensure continuous improvement; this year the feedback from my team has been 100% positive in every aspect!
From the accommodation to the food to the staff to the conference rooms, AV set up, theme nights, cleanliness etc etc - we cannot fault your hotel; it really was outstanding.

I've been in a Sales management capacity for 20 years and have attended many conferences and seen venues from 6 star to 2.5 star - in that time I've never seen staff so motivated to assist and ensure that our every conceivable need was catered for beyond our expectations.

Kaye, we would also like to recognize you personally for your assistance in the planning of our conference and in particular the theme night that you produced - the team have suggested it was one of the best nights at a conference they have ever had!

Once again, on behalf of the Tip Top SA Sales team, a genuine thank you for your hospitality; we would love to return if you will have us!

KI Tops list for holiday spot

KANGAROO Island has been honoured with top billing on a list of the best places to visit across the nation by Australian Traveller magazine.

The December-January issue of Australian Traveller  reveals its Hottest Destinations for 2011 and places Kangaroo Island at No.1, ahead of East Kimberley in Western Australia, Arnhem Land and Kakadu in the Northern Territory, and Tasmania's East Coast.
"Kangaroo Island is awesome," editor Elisabeth Knowles said yesterday.
"We went down to do the cover shoot and it's so astonishing, so beautiful. It is the quintessential Australian (holiday) experience.
"It has wilderness, wildlife, great regional produce and diverse accommodation from camping to high-end luxury."
----The Advertiser extract - 24th of November 2010

Aurora Ozone Hotel Function Centre - December 2010

I thought I would drop you a note to say how well the conference went and how impressed I was with the organisation by the Ozone staff. Conference evaluations overwhelmingly were positive and the venue rated as ‘great’ or ‘excellent’. I found the Ozone staff unfailingly helpful despite the demands at short notice I made on their patience. I have emailed Trish telling her how pleased I was with the organisation but I wanted you to know too.

I also want to thank you as Manager for the provision of sponsored accommodation for 2 of our speakers. They were very happy with their rooms and it was great to have accommodation on site. As you know the Board provided the conference so that it was free to residents and ratepayers and the Ozone’s sponsorship helped us keep the costs down.

We had over 80 attend the conference mainly from the Island, but also some from elsewhere. Our visiting speakers were so impressed with the event that they have all offered to return to KI for a similar event again.

So thanks once again Andrew.

Kakadu:

THERE is nothing quaint, nothing cutesy, about Kakadu National Park.
It's all great sweeps and grand vistas. Magnificence itself.
All this splendour is on our doorstep.
Kakadu has many faces. I like the wet one.

We normally go to my son's favourite hotel -- the crocodile-shaped Gagudju at Jabiru.
But this year I won, and we went to one of my favourites -- the 138-room Aurora Hotel.
Even with the sensible new speed limit on the Arnhem Highway, it's only a couple of hours from Darwin.

I've been going to the Aurora in its various guises for over 20 years.
I love the ambiance of the place. The rooms are clustered around a big, round tropical garden. It feels like the middle of nowhere but is, in fact, right alongside the Stuart Highway.
Last weekend, wallabies nibbled grass near in front of our room and orioles chlonk-chlonked from the trees. The bush was lush and green and vibrant. The South Alligator floodplain was, well, flooded. And the creeks were flowing.
I had my binoculars and a good book. There was cold beer in the bar and good food in the restaurant. I could have stayed for a week.
